Do you have room in your existing kitchen for a beverage bar or a coffee bar? You just might if you have one of these (swipe) these built in kitchen desks were all the rage in the 90’s and early 2000’s. What we found is that they are rarely used and become the drop zone for mail and clutter. If you have one of these desks (swipe) you could have the coffee/beverage bar of your dreams. Dream with us!

Laughing so hard at ourselves. We look like the couple from green acres. Every night we let the chickens out for about an hour to free range. It’s so cold here that I’m grabbing my faux fur. Brooks is suited up like farmer Ted. He does all the real farm work. I just pretend.

Shopping for a new refrigerator? The biggest upgrade you can make in that space is to NOT get ice and water in the door. A refrigerator is so much cleaner looking without it. And if possible, adding cabinetry panels to your refrigerator is a complete style upgrade. Just order your fridge “panel ready”. A good carpenter can guide you through completing that look.

I just finished reading @jeanstofferdesign ‘s ne

I just finished reading @jeanstofferdesign ‘s new book Establishing Home. I couldn’t put it down. There was so much inspiration in her story. I loved how she drove three hours and met with seven Amish cabinet makers to find one who could execute her signature style. And she has been working with him now for 30 years. And how she leaned on her faith to make the next right step for her family that ending up being just the right move for her business too in the big picture. She has been a huge inspiration for me and my kitchen and bath designs and I’m so thankful for her mentorship from afar even though she doesn’t know what a huge impact she has had.

So many of my clients are foregoing the eat in breakfast nook in favor of bigger islands with counter stool seating. That often leaves them with a formal dining room that NEVER gets used. Let’s start a movement to make formal dining more casual and approachable. Let’s make the dining room a room that you use every day instead of just on special occasions. Who’s with me?
