This is a fun project that we just finished that I wanted to share with you. One of the cool things about living in our new neighborhood is that a lot of the people here give their homes names. Our next door neighbors have the “Funny Farm”, another neighbor has “Blackberry Hollow” and yet another is “Mule Ridge Farm”. So, we batted around potential names for our new place and finally settled on “Bella Vista”, or “beautiful view”. I wanted to celebrate the name with a sign for our front porch.
We had this bed frame that came with a set of bedroom furniture we bought off of Craigslist for Zoey’s room makeover.
I had seen this inspiration photo on Pinterest month’s ago and knew that I wanted to make a sign out of the bed frame.
Brooks painted the frame with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Versailles. Then, he used Provence and Old White as accent colors.
We used the Royal Design Studios Chevron Furniture stencil in Arles.
We ordered the vinyl decals from Word Candy Vinyl on Etsy. We love these vinyl letters. We have used them on many of our projects. Here are a few more photos of the headboard sign project.
Annie Sloan Chalk Paint is great for furniture and cabinet makeovers. If you live in the Nashville, TN area and you would like to talk to us about your cabinet or furniture makeover, please contact us by filling out the form below. We would love to hear from you.

I love this idea! I have one of the old school cribs that are now illegal to even give away and I was mourning the thought of possibly having to trash it. I think you may have stumbled onto a business idea…repurposing those sentimental crib headboards as yard art. (I just read your other post and that sounds as dated as “faux finish”…ha.) What a wonderfully talented duo you two are!
