Stencils Star as Custom Wallpaper

As decorative painters, we are always searching for ways to remain relevant to the interior design industry. A few of the ways that I do that are reading design blogs, networking with interior designers through social media, and subscribing and reading over 12 different monthly design centered magazines. Over the last couple of years, I was getting feedback from the Interior Designers that we work with that none of their clients were requesting faux finish treatments. But, as I looked through the design blogs, shelter magazines and completed project photos being posted onto Facebook I noticed a common thread. Almost all of the projects included graphic wallpaper.

In talking to my designer clients and friends, I discovered it can take considerable time to find just the right wallpaper with the desired colors, pattern and texture for each space. I suggested that we could create custom graphic patterned wall coverings using paint, plaster, foils, glass beads and metallics with stencils. There is no risk of the finish peeling off as is the case of some wallpapers. There is no tricky wallpaper removal when the client is ready for an update. They can just paint right over our finish. And, in most cases, the cost is around the same or less.

We have virtually an unending supply of stencil patterns and designs through our suppliers. If our clients don’t see something they like, we can create a custom pattern just for them. Custom stenciled walls, ceilings and floors have been a huge part of our business over the last year. Here are a few of our completed projects.
