Last week I shared with you the before and after photos of our freshly painted exterior. We are still relishing in the newness of living in a house that you can actually see from the road. It still surprises me when I drive up and makes me grin like a goofball when I turn into the driveway. The brick is not the only thing that received a makeover. We also just finished a front porch update.
I knew I wanted something bold for the front door. I narrowed it down to two choice from Modern Masters new Front Door Paint. They have an APP for iPhone and Android that lets you try out the new front door color before you commit. I opted to make it a crowdsourced decision by taking it to a vote on Facebook and Instagram. (If you aren’t following us on social media this is the kind of epic stuff you are missing.) Fortunate, a bold lime green color was the winner.
Why Modern Masters Front Door Paint you might ask? Well for one thing, Modern Masters has a history of putting out gorgeous paint. We have used their metallics and reactive paints on lots of projects with awesome results. The Front Door Paint covers in two coats, Dries Quickly to a Satin finish and NEVER fades. Never fades? SOLD!!!
Here is our front porch before the update.

And after the update.
We also decided to update the lighting, the house numbers and the door knob. That doorknob! And all its reflective chromeness. I die.
So then I thought we were done. I even had professional photos taken. But Brooks had another idea. He wanted to stencil the front porch. We had this amazing stencil from Royal Design Studios blown up to an 18″ repeat. He painted the floor with Sherwin Williams porch and floor paint. The base color is 7045 Intellectual Gray and the stencil color is 7028 Incredible White.
And then it didn’t feel quite finished. I texted my friend Brandy a photo and she replied back immediately, “You need an amazing vintage elephant stool between the two chairs.” And so I did. And then it was finished.
And then I scheduled another photo shoot with the amazing Geinger Hill.
I think we are on to something here. Even Brian Patrick Flynn liked my photo on Instagram. He is my current design hero.

Looks good, but I would have left the glass doors.
What a makeover. Did you agonize over painting the brick or not? It turned out beautifully and I love the color choice of the front door. No wonder you smile when you pull in the drive-way. I’m going to download that app…and check with out HOA about color choices that are allowed. Thanks for a great blog!
Thank so much for the sweet comment!!

Thanks sooooooooo much!!! 🙂
I love every single thing about that porch and those doors. LOVE.
Thanks so much!!! xoxo
Would you mind sharing how you blew up the stencil? I am wanting this exact same size for our patio, but was wondering if you requested Royal Design Studio to do this for you or if you did it a different way? Thank you so much in advance! Everything looks so great!!
Thanks so much for your comment. Yes, we had Royal Design Studio create the larger size stencil for us. Good luck with your project!
I’m curious, how often would you need to repaint the cement?
Also wonder if it is slippery if it gets wet from rain or show?
The porch is textured, so it isn’t slippery. We do have to repaint every 2-3 years. 🙂
