Year End Projects Recap

By Dana Tucker Leave a Comment

This has been the biggest and best year in the history of Bella Tucker Decorative Finishes and we want to say THANK YOU. We’ve got to give credit to our wonderful clients, loyal friends and SOCIAL MEDIA. Hundreds of you have shared our blog posts and photos and a couple of our projects have even gone viral AND one was featured in a national magazine. Social media is a crazy cool and wonderful thing. It has certainly changed the way that people find us and contact us about booking projects. Here are some of our favorite and most popular projects of the year.

1) Painted fabric with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint – Who knew that this little chair makeover would be so popular. This was linked to from blogs all over the web. We have also seen lots of blogs of others painting fabric with ASCP. It is simple, easy and beautiful. Add a stencil for a custom look.

2) Painted Floors with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint– It was definitely the year of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. We love it. It is easy to use, forgiving and the color palette is soft and luscious. This project landed us a feature in Romantic Country Homes Magazine. We have since seen stenciled floors popping up all over the web.

3) How to Make your Kitchen look like a million bucks on a budget– This post was extremely popular on Hometalk. Last time I looked it was shared over 10,000 times on Facebook and pinned almost 5000 times on Pinterest. Painting cabinets makes up about 60% of our business. This post goes beyond paint to show you simple inexpensive updates to make your kitchen look fantastic without breaking the bank.Kitchen by Bella Tucker Decorative Finishes

4) How to add style and character to your new construction home– In this post I showed how using a variety of decorative painting finishes can warm up an newly constructed home.

5) Duck Egg Blue and Old White Cabinets– This project was fun because it features a kitchen with two different colors on their cabinets. The homeowner also has excellent style, so that always helps too. Another Annie Sloan Chalk Paint project. Thanks Annie for making a fabulous paint.

Hello!!! Just jumping on to say, "hi!". And a litt Hello!!! Just jumping on to say, "hi!". And a little background on us. Brooks started Bella Tucker originally as a faux painting company back in 2008. He transitioned pretty much exclusively to kitchen cabinet painting around 2010. I joined him full time in 2012 and started handling the paint color consultations, marketing, and business side of things. This is a second career for me. I had a long successful career in advertising before this. I always loved design but couldn't imagine anyone would ever pay me to do something I loved so much. Funny thing happened though. During those paint color consultations clients kept asking my advice about design-y things like backsplash tile, lighting, hardware, and countertops. I gave all the free advice I could give in that short consultation and clients started implementing my suggestions. Our before and after photos were dramatically improved when our clients followed my design advice. Then people just started assuming I was designing these beautiful transformed spaces (which I was, theoretically, just not getting paid) and started asking me to design their spaces and manage their projects. This led to us developing a great business model where Brooks and I work together on "kitchen re-designs" where I design and project manage kitchen makeovers and he and his team paint the cabinets. Working with your spouse is SUPER HARD, yall!!!! So we hired a business manager who tells Brooks what to do so I don't have to. That has been really good for our marriage. :) I also work with general contractors to implement my designs on gut renovations and new builds where we are starting from the ground up with a remodel or brand new kitchen. We also offer full service design services when that design starts with a kitchen or bath. My awesome design assistant @laurenlechols is amazing and NCIDQ certified. Please reach out if you need help with your next kitchen project! And to my designer friends, we love working with you on your kitchen cabinet painting projects!!
