I shared this kitchen months ago on Instagram but it deserves it’s own forever space on our website.
These clients are the coolest. They love dogs, love to entertain and live life to the fullest. They had a kitchen that did not reflect their lifestyle. It had a funky layout, bad lighting, and didn’t have a great flow for entertaining.
Our goals for the redesign were to improve the flow, increase the amount of storage, and create a swanky cocktail bar vibe.
Improving the traffic flow:
We improved the flow by removing the peninsula island that was cutting off the living area/den.
Without the obstruction of the kitchen table we were able to install a sliding door system that opens up completely to the outside. (Future screened in porch in the plans) We also created a lounging spot in front of the doors with a couple of swivel chairs. Watch this transformation on Instagram.
Increasing Storage
Storage is always at the top of the list for all my customers. My solutions are usually to add as many drawers as possible and to go vertical. We were able to add a ton of drawers in this kitchen. We also added this full height storage cabinet for dishes and linens.
Swanky cocktail vibe! Got it!
I immediately had the idea to go dark with the floors and the cabinetry in this kitchen. I knew that would create a moody vibe.
I also knew that opening up the back wall with the sliding door would flood the room with light so it wouldn’t feel dark and dreary.
The porcelain tile floors are perfect for the three dogs that rule the roost in this home. I balanced the dark with strategic lighting choices like toe kick lighting, under cabinet lighting, in cabinet lighting, sconces and big beautiful island pendants. White quartz countertops also helped to keep the dark paint colors from being too overwhelming.
Cocktail/Coffee Bar
My favorite part of this remodel is the bar.
The mesh screens on the cabinet fronts, the accent lighting, the brass rail. Tucked under the bar behind the cabinet panels are an ice machine and a beverage fridge. This keeps the party guests out of the main cooking area during gatherings.
Objectives achieved! Remodel Success!
