I can’t wait to show you our latest kitchen makeover. Which actually turned into a several room re-design. We worked with an amazing family. They are a really cool couple. Hip, active, and beautiful inside and out. Their home did not reflect who they are and all the goodness they have going on. So we helped them plan, design and execute their makeover.
We started in the kitchen. They had a huge amazing space, but it wasn’t being used effectively. The cabinets, countertops and backsplash were dated.
They had a cramped eating area in this nook area.
The clients told us they really needed a space where they could monitor their young children’s internet usage and oversee homework. We claimed this nook space as a new internet and homework space. And now the client says that this is her new favorite space in the whole house.
They also weren’t taking advantage of this beautiful view at the end of the room. They really weren’t sure how to utilize the space so they put a couple of couches down there.
We moved the table that was in the dining room in front of the windows to take advantage of the beautiful view. We added new rattan end chairs, new lighting, and this gorgeous navy antelope rug to complete the space.
In the kitchen we made some amazing updates. We replaced the countertops with quartz. On the island we used Cambria Britannica– but we added this 3″ mitered edge that makes it a real statement piece.
That is my favorite update in the whole place!
On the perimeter counters we used a darker gray quartz.
We installed new marble mosaic backsplash tile with an inset of arabesque tile over the cooktop.
We painted the cabinets in Sherwin Williams 7008 Creamy and the island in Sherwin Williams 6244 Naval.
We also replaced all the hardware with these stainless steel bar pulls in several different lengths.
It creates a totally custom look.
The kitchen is open to the den so the client wanted to update that space too. We changed the furniture layout to make the fireplace a focal point. Added these fun patterned chairs, a substantial coffee table and grounded the space with this fabulous rug. This rug is amazing. It effortlessly brought the room together. I styled the bookshelves with some of the homeowner’s books and added the vintage bowling pins which I thought created a sculptural effect. We added a huge amazing light in the center of the room to pull the look together.
Since we commandeered the dining room table for the kitchen, we selected a new round dining table with wishbone chairs for the new improved dining room. We added a new rug and a new light fixture. A simple rustic bowl filled with green moss balls completes the look.
Now, our client’s home feels fresh and fabulous- just like the owners!
Do you need help with design or project management for your home?
Our business has gradually morphed over the last few years from a cabinet painting business into a full kitchen re-design business. It started simply enough. We helped our clients completely transform their existing cabinets by painting them. Along the way, we would make suggestions about modifying existing cabinets, replacing countertops and tile, updating lighting, etc. Clients started asking us to take over management and design, so now we offer full service design as well as a la carte services. Whether you need full project design and management, or just simply professional painting of your existing cabinets, we can help as much or as little as you need.
