We are so close to finishing this kitchen and I am soooooooo ready for it to be done. This week we started adding some of the finishing details and I can’t wait to show you. If you are just jumping in on our kitchen remodel journey and want to catch up you can start from the beginning HERE, then WEEK 1 HERE, WEEK 2 HERE, and WEEK THREE HERE.
Countertops
Our countertops were installed last Friday and it changed everything. My original plan was for honed Carrera Marble. But, the slabs were more gray than white and I really wanted mostly white. That is why it is so important to select the actual stone in person so you know what you are getting. At the last minute, I selected a honed Snow White Marble.
It’s a beautiful bright white with subtle gray veins.
We added a 3 inch mitered edge on the island and love how this looks. Depending on the size of your island it can add $750+ to your countertop budget, but the result is sooooooo worth it.
Backsplash Tile
Our backsplash tile was also installed this week. I was gone the day the tile installer was here and when I got home I was so overwhelmed. I absolutely love how the tile turned out.
We selected a white picket tile and had it installed all the way to the ceiling and all the way to the windows. I knew I wanted a clean tile edge, so I had our trim carpenter trim our windows out to the edge of the cabinets and all the way to the ceiling.
Plumbing
We finally got our faucets installed. (affiliate link)
Well, actually more than our faucets. Our plumber said he’d never seen anyone try to shove so much stuff under a sink before. 🙂
We didn’t have a garbage disposal before so, we made sure to have one of those put in this time around. In addition, we added instant hot water (affiliate link) and filtered cold water. He re-installed our existing dishwasher that we had purchased about 6 months before the remodel. And the pièce de rĂ©sistance—wait for it——- our NUGGET ICE MAKER. (affiliate link- we got a G.E.)
How did I live without nugget ice before this?
Today the carpenters are here finishing up all the little details. We are also priming the cabinets. Monday, all the lighting and electrical will be installed and our induction cooktop will be hooked up.
We are already enjoying the upholstered banquette. Hoping to have a table set up next week.
And, if we are lucky— we might have installed painted cabinets. But, I’m not holding my breath.
