Cabinets, cabinets, cabinets. That is what seems to be making up a majority of our workload these days. With a little paint, glaze, and topcoat we are able to transform out of date cabinets into something totally “Pin-able” or “Houzz-worthy“. So, practicing what we preach this past weekend, Brooks and I dug in to transform our own master bathroom vanity.
We moved into this house over a year ago. We have had good intentions of replacing our vanity, but the budget and the time that project would require have not come together. We recently gave our bedroom a makeover and it really motivated us to pull the bathroom together.
So, as Brooks headed off to a job site one day I asked him to dig out some paint and a paint brush for me. I told him I had a project I wanted to work on that day.
He had no idea what was up my sleeve. So after he left, I got straight to painting the vanity and mirror with whatever paint we had on hand. We use so much Annie Sloan Chalk Paint that we could practically retail out of our garage. I ended up using Country Grey as the base. When Brooks got home that day he distressed the cabinets and added Annie Sloan’s Dark Wax right on top of the Country Grey. WE LOVED IT!! It really added a richness to the color.
The next day, I took a pair of IKEA mirrors that I had in the basement and glued some rope around them.
Brooks hung them from cute little bird hooks that I picked up along with our new cabinet pulls and knobs from Harmony Home in downtown Franklin.
I also found this cute little drawer cabinet at a downtown antiques store.
Brooks painted and distressed it to match our cabinets. Now we have extra storage!!
We added the antique architectural bullseye wall art display and a painting I had in the basement to finish the decor.
So, a few hours dedicated to this project over the weekend, supplies on hand and about $100 for the drawer cabinet and new knobs and we have a totally new look for our master bath. What do you think?

I love your blog and painting projects! I painted our kitchen cabinets using ASCP about two years ago- and I still love it 🙂

Hello Bella just wanted to ask if the Annie Sloan paint holds up in the moisture in your bathroom. I’m thinking about doing mine. Dede Ricketson
