Brentwood Kitchen Remodel – Week 4

Welcome to week 4 of our Brentwood kitchen remodel. I wanted to chronicle the weekly progress on this kitchen for a few reasons.

1. I knew this was going to be a beautiful transformation and I wanted to share it with you. 
2. I wanted potential clients to have a realistic look at what really happens during a remodel.
3. Inevitably, there is always a snag or a hiccup in every project and I wanted to share the good, the better and the bad. 

We hit our first snag with the flooring install in the powder bathroom. They couldn’t scoot the vanity out to lay the flooring under it without cutting these huge holes in the back. Ugh. The other options were more expensive and would have come with project delays, so we went with the lesser of the evils.

The floors have been installed and we are shifting into high gear over here.

Aren’t they lovely? We are in love with them, except…. snag #2.

We didn’t notice that the job order had specified primed shoe molding. That looks great with our stained floor and trim molding, right???

Wrong.

So now we need to have that all pulled out and replaced with shoe molding stained to match the floor. There are lessons to be learned on every project. Am I right? Luckily, as I tell my clients, everything can be fixed. And, we are working on a fix for this. 

Our amazing barstools arrived today. There will be six of these around the new island.

The natural white oak rift sawn island base and legs are being installed over the next couple of days.
